Organizing Our Future

I am calling upon every member and local lodge who is proud of being a part of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers to work together to intensify our union organizing efforts. It is high time for us to grow our union.

Current data proves the time is ripe for organizing. In the United States alone, 70% of Americans approve of labor unions. Yet union membership in the U.S. overall is only 10%; and in the private sector, union membership is just 6%. We must not squander this favorable environment to organize as many workers and workplaces as possible. The time to organize is now, both internally and externally.
